Looking for a reason to join us at the 6th annual Traverse City Triathlon presented by McLain Cycle and Fitness on August 17? How about ten?
10. Crystal-clear waters of Bowers Harbor
You’ll have a hard time finding a triathlon around Michigan with better water quality than that of Bowers Harbor. Because of the natural protection that the Neahtawanta point provides, the water in Bowers Harbor is clean, clear, and usually quite calm on race morning. And, the water temperature is usually between 65-67 degrees, plenty warm to swim without a wetsuit, but still legal to swim in one if you want.
9. Volunteers
Year after year, our racers tell us how great our crew of volunteers is. We’re pretty darn proud of them and know that you’ll certainly get a little boost from their energy and encouragement on race day.
8. Organization
As triathletes ourselves, we know what it’s like to be a participant in an event like the Traverse City Triathlon. There’s a lot going on before, during, and after the race, and we take pride in making sure that you have all the information you need to have a fun, safe race.
7. Individually assigned bike rack numbers
Some races treat the transition area as an afterthought, and things can get a little crazy finding a spot to rack your bike on race morning. Every participant in the Traverse City Triathlon has their own reserved spot in the transition area. Bike racks are labeled in numerical order and you’ll have your own spot waiting for you when you arrive on race day.
6. The Scenery
Throughout the race you’ll have views of water, vineyards, and if Mother Nature cooperates, plenty of blue sky. The scenery on the course is second to none.
5. Brew & Short’s Post-Race Celebration
After you’ve crossed the finish line the day isn’t over. Brew, in downtown Traverse City is hosting a post-race celebration featuring a tap takeover of Short’s beer (read: all taps will be flowing with Short’s), free coffee, and discounts on food for racers.
4. High Quality Shirts
No cotton here. Our shirts suck…suck the sweat of your body, that is. We’re proud to include a 100% moisture wicking fabric shirt with each Traverse City Triathlon registration.
3. Age Group Awards
Medals are cool, but pint glasses are cooler. The top three finishers in each age group will receive a Traverse City Triathlon pint glass. You’ll get a lot more mileage out of your pint glass than a medal.
2. Giving Back
Endurance Evolution has donated almost $4,000 to the Old Mission Historical Society, Peter Dougherty Society, and the Old Mission American Legion as a result of your registrations.
1. Bragging Rights
‘Nuff said.
